The Henslow School is a specialist independent day school for secondary-aged students facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Many of our students display behaviours that reflect their life experiences—and we’re here to help them feel safe, understood, and empowered. We offer a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment where students can rebuild trust, develop healthy relationships, and rediscover the joy of learning.
Our approach recognises that trauma is often experienced through the senses, so we focus on restoring a sense of safety, stability, and connection. All staff are trained in Reflective Therapeutic Intervention, ensuring a consistent, compassionate approach to behaviour support. We create a structured yet nurturing space where students feel respected and encouraged to grow.
The Henslow School operates across two dedicated sites, with primary education delivered at The Evolution School. Together, we provide a seamless, supportive journey for students at every stage of their development.

“The Head Teacher and her team have been exceptional in helping my child transition into education. They quickly identified both strengths and areas needing further support, conducting assessments to guide future planning. My child’s transition into school was well-managed, child-cantered, and highly supportive. This process included home visits from the Head Teacher, social stories at a level appropriate for my child, and taster session, all of which helped build a strong foundation of safety and trust, making the experience of moving school much smoother for my child.”
